Asda plans an Amesbury store
SUPERMARKET giant Asda is developing plans to open a new store in Amesbury.
The chain hopes to build a 30,000 square foot supermarket at Solstice Park, bringing hundreds of jobs to the town.
Asda is currently developing plans for the site, which are expected to be submitted to Salisbury District Council in the coming months.

Town councillors were told about the plans at a recent meeting, and Asda says it has launched a public consultation.
"We are hosting an Open Day in May to give everyone chance to see the latest plans and let us know what they think," said property communications manager for Asda, Deborah Yewdall. "On display will be lots of information about the development, job opportunities and the products we stock."
In addition to food, the supermarket also plans to sell household goods and its George clothing range.
It is likely to be in direct competition with some of Amesbury's existing retailers.
Residents and businesses in Amesbury will be invited to have their say when the planning process gets underway later this year.
Barney Hale, from Asda's property team, said: "With the new homes being built to the south east of Amesbury, Solstice Park offers a convenient location for many local people."
If the application is approved, the supermarket could open in early 2009.
