Business Park will be in bus loop
A NEW free bus service is due to start running in Amesbury in November linking the town centre with Solstice Park.
Solstice Park is launching its own Solstice Shuttle Club which will provide the free service to operate a loop between Amesbury town centre and Solstice Park.
The service is due to commence in mid-November and will operate at peak travel hours.
Alexandra Spencer, marketing executive for Solstice Park, said: "The aim is to provide workers at Solstice Park with further opportunities to travel to work avoiding the use of a car, the service will be free, convenient and frequent.
"In addition to providing a valuable service for workers at Solstice Park, a unique collaboration has been formed with COMTRANS (South Wiltshire) to make the bus available to community groups during the day, evenings and weekends.
"The service will be operated by COMTRANS, a charitable organisation which provides a community bus service for persons with limited mobility".
Chair of COMTRANS, Elizabeth Piner, said: "The new service caters for members of the public without public transport, for example, those who live in a rural location not served by public transport, people without a car, in addition to those with physical mobility issues."
Ms Spencer hopes the new service will encourage workers at Solstice Park to use a more sustainable mode of transport than just driving on their own.
She added: "We are equally thrilled to be working with the community by providing Amesbury and the surrounding area with a 16-seater minibus for local shopping trips and excursions further afield. Anyone wishing to enquire about the community bus should contact COMTRANS on 01722 410123."
