Children to name roads
11 November 2004
Three pupils at Stonehenge School, Amesbury, have won a competition to name the roads on the new 160-acre Solstice Park development.
First prize went to Clare Hillier, Year 10, who came up with the name Sun Rise Way for the office zone.
Ryan Davies, Year 11, and Faye Holt, Year 9, were both runners-up, with Solar Way and Pagans Drive.
All three were presented with book vouchers and exclusive Solstice Park T-shirts.
The names have now been sent to Amesbury town council for approval.
Neal Langley, head of geography at Stonehenge School, said he was very pleased with the huge response to the competition, which saw more than 300 pupils entering.
Earlier in the year, three classes of Year 11 geography students visted the park, to help them with their GCSE project.
Now the school and Solstice Park are keen to develop their links, and in January a further 60 geography students will be visiting the site.
