Regional Distribution Centre moves forward
In September, Wiltshire councillors gave the proposed Regional Distribution Centre at Solstice Park, Amesbury the green light. The Government Office for the South West confirmed on 12th November 2009, that the centre would not be called in by the secretary of state for a public inquiry.
The Government Office for the South West wrote in a letter to the council that Secretary of State for communities and local government John Denham had concluded "there is not sufficient conflict with national planning policies or any other sufficient reason to warrant calling in the application for his own determination".
Spokesperson for Solstice Park said "we are delighted that the secretary of state has seen fit to bring investment and jobs to the area. We will be letting the companies that are interested in using the distribution centre know the outcome, as this will influence the final plans."
No date has yet been set for the proposed opening of the distribution centre.
